Ducks at Coyotes Halloween edition |

How fitting is it that tonight is Halloween the night when you put on costumes and go door to door asking “Trick or Treat”. For the first time since I moved to Phoenix in 1999 I entered the Coyotes arena not dressed in Jeans, a Yotes Jersey and a baseball cap, instead I find myself sitting in the press box dressed in business casual clothes.
The day started when I arrived at the arena picked up my credentials, I then headed down to the media lounge to pick up the daily game notes, grabbed a quick bite to eat and then headed upstairs. The whole thing has kind of that first day at school feel to it, I have found my assigned seat, said hello to Heeter, Tyson Nash, Todd Walsh and Sean Burke and now I am ready for warm ups and the game.
During warm ups they started putting pictures of folks dressed up from around the arena. Best one so far Dad dressed up as a hunter, son as a dog holding a DUCK decoy and a sign that says Opening day of Duck season.
Scottie Upshall back on the ice after being a healthy scratch last game. Tonight it looks like Peter Mueller is going to be the scratch as I have not seen him on the ice yet.
First Power play for the Coyotes when Petr Prucha, draws a hooking penalty against Nick Boynton at the 3:23 mark. The Coyotes capitalize on the power play when Robert Lang scored at the 3:52 mark.
Coyotoes called for Too many men on the ice at the 5:31 mark
Shane Doan took a hard hit from James Wisniewski that looked like an elbow to me, as he was entering the Ducks zone. Doan hit the ice hard he tried to get back up and could not catch his balance falling back to the ice. Keith Yandle went after Wisniewski the two of them wrestled around a bit. Each of them got 5 for fighting with Yandle drawing the 2 min instigation penalty and a 10 minute misconduct penalty
The trainer kept Shane Doan at the end of the bench checking his eyes and asking him questions for about 2 shifts. He made him go through a couple rounds of standing and sitting checking his balance and then Doaner was right back on the ice. The hitting from both teams has increased.
Shane Doan has to be feeling better he just had to be pulled away from Wisniewski by the linesman at the end of a shift.
George Parros stayed out at the end of a shift when Paul Bissonnette came onto the ice. They skated around each other for about 20 seconds then they dropped the gloves and went at it. Each guy got in a couple short jabs with the left while holding the jerseys. Then Bissonnette got the take down.
Doan bumped Wisniewski at the end of the period and the pushing and shoving started with everyone pairing off. Doan then had some words with Scott Niedermayer the Ducks captain. The rest of this game is going to be interesting.
The Coyotes out shot the Ducks 13-10 in the first period.
Doan and Wisniewski met again just .47 seconds into the second period. Doan grabbed Wisniewski in front of the Ducks net and they exchanged shots, Doan was then able to wrestle Wisniewski to the ground before the linesmen stepped in and broke it up.
The Ducks evened up the score at 1-1 When Corey Perry got a puck passed Ilya Bryzgalov from just in front of the crease. Saku Koivu and Ryan Getzlaf got the assists.
The Coyotes looked a little flat towards the end of the second period they also took 4 minor penalties and one 5 minute major to Doan for fighting. The Ducks outs hot the Coyotes 16-13 in the second period, for a two period total of 26-20.
Teamu Selanne scores at the 10:13 mark from the top of the left circle as the puck trickled past Ilya Bryzgalov. The Coyotes came right back 18 second later when Vernon Fiddler put the puck past Jonas Hiller.
