Ryan Miller did it again. He registered 30+ saves and beat the pants off the Atlanta Thrashers, right in front of GM Don Waddell. I know that the decision has already been made, but perhaps Waddell should call one of his current TEAM USA goaltenders and ask them to fake an injury. I can hear it now...
"Rick (or Robert, or John)...there's nothing more patriotic than NOT playing hockey for your country. Do us afavor, and back out. American NEEDS you...to NOT play."
I'd give the numbers of Miller v. Rick DiPietro, but it's really fruitless. It's a fact. He's a better goaltender, and he'd make the team better. With Miller, Team USA would have a prayer.
I know thatDon Waddelllikes to claim it's hindsight...but it's not. Miller is the best American goaltender, and has been all season long. He was worth one of the three roster spots. Now it looks like he'll go on the taxi squad...waiting to hop in if there is an injury.
More than likely, Team USA will go forward without Ryan Miller who led the Sabres to a 5-2 win over the Atlanta Thrashers last night. Miller let in two, which is uncharacteristic. In the 13 games since he's returned from his thumb injury, he's given up 1 goal....7 times, and he's 10-3.
Miller kept the Sabres in it early, making big save after big save. The Buffalo offense finally woke up and torched the Thrashers for 4 straight goals on the way to a win.

Jason Pominville scored his 11th of the season. He's got 11 in 28 games, which over the course of the season projectsto 33 for the season. He's just another player to come up from AHL Rochester and make a BIG difference.

The Sabres finished up a 6 game road trip 4-2, and they needed it. February opponents:

This week will be a big test...more to come after Thursday against PHI and Saturday against OTT.
