It really is shocking isn't it?

Here we sit, as camps across the NHL are open for business and one man is currently sitting at home, waiting for the phone to ring.

That man is none other than Brenden Morrow

And why?

The guy can still play. Just look at the 12 goals and 25 points he had last season, while bringing toughness, grit and physicality – but that's just my bias, as Morrow has always been a favourite of mine.

The rumour mill has had four teams (that I've heard anyways, I'm sure there is more) looking at adding the winger.

Carolina- Has been rumoured to be in talks with him all summer, off and on, but you have to wonder if having to sign another defenceman yesterday might have left them with not a lot of pocket change. I know they have the room, but having room and having money are two completely different things. My guess is that is the snag. Would you shell out another 2 million to someone when you likely aren't making the playoffs? I know I wouldn't.

Montreal- They were talking with him back in July and if you believe the rumours, he was also very interested. But with Prust and Moen slotted into similar roles, one has to wonder what Montreal was offering. Now with only 1.8 million in space, my guess is they don't have the room or roster spot to make this happen.

Dallas- Has also been rumoured off and on this summer. They have the space, but one has to wonder how Morrow feels about going back there to a new coach and GM. Also, looking at their lineup, you have to wonder given the direction the team is going if they want another older player. My guess is the offer is there, but it's low and it's more of a PR offer.

Vancouver- I think this is more fan driven than management drive. Sure Vancouver has the money and cap space to make this happen and sitting Morrow between Horvat and Kassian even if it's just for camp on a PTO makes a lot of sense. One issue, where does Morrow fit? He isn't top nine in Vancouver, or at least not in my books.

I'd have Burrows, Higgins, Booth, Sedin, Hansen and Kassian ahead of him – well, maybe not Booth, but we're stuck with him. Add to the mix, Jensen and Shinkaruk and the only real job for Morrow is the fourth line. I'm not sure he's ready to take a demotion in both pay and role.

In my opinion, at least one winger needs to go to bring in Morrow.

So where in the world will Brenden Morrow be in a month?

My bet, I'll go off the board and say Philly or Columbus.

Until tomorrow my friends, stay classy

Ian
