Bettman: Coli is not an option |

Today at a press conference at Citi Field for the Winter Classic, NHL commissioner Gary Bettman spoke on housing options for the Islanders. One thing is for sure, he does not view the newly renovated Nassau Coliseum as even a short-term option.
"I don't view the Nassau Coliseum as a viable option. Ultimately, whether or not the Islanders want to consider that and bring it to the league or something, you have to ask them about it." Bettman believes that playing at the Coli is not realistic nor the best decision for the club moving forward.
Bettman was also asked about the team's bid in regard to the Belmont Arena proposals. Without being very specific the comish added, "the Islanders have very good options and they're in the process of evaluating what makes most sense for the franchise and their fans." Thanks Gary, could you be any more vague? Very good options? Besides Brooklyn and Belmont I cannot think of any others in this state.
The Islanders are working on their development plan for the Belmont site as they have until September 28th to submit their proposal. There is never a dull moment with this team but as of right now, if you want to see the Isles play at the old barn then you need to buy a ticket to the preseason game against the Flyers.
