Ottawa Fans Keep Your Heads Up

Yes, your Senators are down 3-0, but for the majority of the series they have outplayed the Sabres. It has been 31 years since we have seen a team come back from 3-0 and the day is coming soon that it will happen again. I am not saying that Ottawa is going to beat Buffalo 4 straight, but if there is a team that can it is surely the Senators.

Let's look at how the teams got to where they are right now. Game one should have been a Senator victory. How they blew it in the last minute is mind boggling. The result ofSens game one loss triggered an onslaughtof negativity toward them. The talk of how they needed to make adjustments, etc. Ottawa was the better team in game one, they just did not finish the deal. The element ofdoubt starts to creep in as ghosts of playoffs past rear their ugly heads. Game two is just utter domination by the Sens as they outshot the Sabres 44-17 but managed to lose 2-1. That game again could have been very different had Daniel Alfredsson taken a direct line to the net following Jason Spezza's breakaway. Had Alfredsson crashed the net instead of sliding just left of the cage, he would have forced that puck across the line and there would have been nothing Ryan Miller could have done to stop it.Game number three was definitely the Sabres best effort of the series, and they earnedthe win in their own building in front of some of the greatest hockey fans our awesome sport has.

All of that said, Buffalo is a tremendous team from top to bottom. They have four lines that are very similar and can all do damage. Ottawa has tremendous firepower to go along with arguably the finest defense corps in the league. For the Sens to be successful they will need to put the past behind them now. They need to get back to what got them here. Get back to the game plan they used in game number two...shoot the puck and shoot it often. The Sabres are a legitimate Stanley Cup contender and they will be extremely tough to beat, butI feel thatOttawa has something to say before this series is all said and done. I may be wrong but I felt this series was going 7 from the start.
