Gionta does the deal in style netting all three in the third period of the Devils/Leafs game then he tops it off with a wicked wrister over Aubin's glove in the shootout. This guy is the poster boy for the new rules. He is a star in this league and he delivered again tonight in the clutch.

Jonathon Cheechoo had been goal-less through the first 3 games of the season, but he broke out in a big way netting his natural hat trick before the midway point of the Sharks/Oilers game. The fireworks were not over as Ryan Smyth provided his own natural trick, netting all three in a span 2:01 in the third period, turning a 2 goal deficit into a 1 goal lead for the Oilers.

What a great night of hockey. Three games with 10 or more goals, 3 shootouts, a Kiprusoff shutout in Ottawa, Crosby nets gamewinner in the final seconds on Broadway, and the Devils and Oilers overcame 3 goal deficits to win. If you can't get excited about this game you should check your pulse.
