The Athletic's Arthur Staple is reporting that Lou Lamoriello will be running the New York Islanders hockey operations. The announcement should take place in the next couple of days.
The 75-year-old Lamoriello recently stepped down as general manager of the Toronto Maple Leafs. He was to stay on as a special advisor to the team.
It is also being reported that Lamoriello has already met with John Tavares last week even before he officially was hired. This move can only help the Islanders chances in retaining their captain.
What happens with Garth Snow remains to be seen. Snow's deal has at least four more years. It would be likely that he is reassigned within the organization.
