While everyone nurses their Halloween candy hangovers, the Cats will play a matinee game today against the Dallas Stars many miles away in Finland for the Global Series.
The Stars have had a strong start to their season, going 7-2-0 thus far and sitting 2nd in the Central Division. They have 14 total points and are four back from the Division-leading Winnipeg Jets – how are looking nasty.
As
Litter Box Cats nicely sums up:
“The Florida Panthers (7-3-1) are in Tampere for the first of a pair of games against the Dallas Stars (7-2) at Nokia Arena as the NHL comes to Finland for the 2024 Global Series presented by Fastenal.
Florida enters the game winners of three-straight and are 6-1-1 over their last eight outings. The Panthers stuck to the grind and knocked off the Buffalo Sabres 5-2 on Monday night to sweep a three-game run through the Empire State. Aleksander Barkov returned after an eight-game absence and contributed a goal and an assist, as did Sam Bennett, Carter Verhaeghe and leading scorer Sam Reinhart.
After opening the season with four-straight victories, Dallas is 3-2 over the last five games. They doubled-up the Chicago Blackhawks by a 4-2 count at American Airlines Center before crossing the pond. Veteran Matt Duchene leads the Stars in goals (6) and points (13). Jake Oettinger has post five of Dallas’ seven wins.”
For a team packed with Finnish players, this is a very special game.
Nosek is back in the lineup and will look to center the fourth line.
Some cool insight into Finland’s top league:
