The Panthers beat the Flyers on Thursday night in a game reminiscent of an 80’s style tilt regarding the 7-5 final score.
As Tkachuk put it:
Speaking of Matthew Tkachuk, this is pretty awesome:
Florida will hope to tighten things up tonight against the 10-14-5 San Jose Sharks.
The Sharks are a pretty bad team, but not as bad as they were to start the season. Their future star, Macklin Celebrini, has put together a nice rookie season so far to help boost the Sharks a bit in the standings. Despite missing time with injury, Celebrini has notched 15 points (8G, 7A) in 17 games.
I actually find the Sharks fun to watch, and the 18-year-old sensation is a big reason for that.
SJ’s tandem in net of Mackenzie Blackwood and Vitek Vanecek has struggled this season. Blackwood has a 3.00 GAA, while Vanecek has a 3.89 GAA.
Hard to blame the guys in the blue panini entirely, as the team defense in front of them has been on the weaker side.
Going back to the 80’s reference I made earlier in the blog…the Sharks came into Florida hot on a three-game winning streak. Then they met the Tampa Bay Lightning, who knocked them down a leg (or two) in an 8-1 thumping.
The Panthers have a chance to pounce on a Sharks team that’s licking its wounds right now. They’ll need to keep an eye on guys like of Celebrini and Toffoli, but I think today could be a good opportunity to get back to form after a weird/sloppy game against PHI.
For those that were bummed about Samo being sent down this week, this should brighten your day a bit. Also…I hope to see Bob back in net.
