The Panthers’ scoring woes continue, as the speedy/skilled Avalanche dumped the Cats 3-1 on Monday night.
Florida has a lot of scoring ability in their top six, but they have been struggling nightly as of late.
Bob was strong against the hot Avs, turning away 31 of 33 shots. But there’s only so much you can do when you’re not getting goal support from the guys in front of you.
The bottom line is that one or two goals a night just isn’t going to get you the W most games…
The good news?
Florida is heading to Utah tonight to play the Utah Hockey Club. This is a team that’s just a sniff over .500 at 17-15-7. More importantly, Utah is just 1-4-2 in their last seven games. Not too hot at all and they are an opponent that an offensively struggling Panthers team should look to pounce on.
The only thing that makes me a bit nervous about tonight is that UHC has some young studs that are very quick. Florida will need to suffocate Utah’s transition game and not allow this younger squad to get comfortable.
One positive is that we’ll see former-under-the-radar-Panther Kevin Stenlund tonight. I loved that guy on the fourth line during his time in Florida.
