Despite a hot home crowd cheering on their Cats, Florida could not defeat the Red Wings on Thursday night.
It was a tale as old as time as the Panthers symbolically shot themselves in the foot - surrendering three goals to Detroit’s Power Play.
Yes…Florida’s special teams PK unit had no answer for Detroit’s puck-moving efficiency with the man advantage by the likes of Patrick Kane, Dylan Larkin, Mortiz Seider, etc.
And so, the Panthers will get a chance to redeem themselves today when they play the struggling Anaheim Ducks (18-21-6).
The Ducks have lost five of their last six tilts, making them a prime opponent to bounce back against. Florida’s main assignment will be to shut down talented forward Troy Terry, who finds himself on a heck of a run right now with 34 points (15 G, 19 A) in 41 games.
Despite their yo-yo play of late, Florida is 26-17-3 and maintains that second place spot in the Atlantic Division.
Keys for tonight are pretty simple:
1. Stay out of the box
2. Be ready for ANA, despite their record, they have some young talent that can really play
3. Make Gudas’ night miserable
4. Score more than the Ducks
