Tough loss to former-Cat Sam Montembeault and the Montreal Canadiens last night.
In what seemed like it should have been an “easy win”, Florida flubbed their chances, and Montreal capitalized on theirs.
In a nutshell: The Panthers we’re just flat
As Maurice put it:
“I don’t want to tell you how I thought we played because I want to be respectful of the effort from Montreal. They played hard and fast. I can’t really give you an assessment of how good that was because I’m not sure it relates to how we played. I think we own that one. Our play, that was on us. We’d have to play considerably better before I can assess what the other team did to us.."
The Panthers won’t have long to dwell on the loss, as they have a quick turnaround and will face the 29-28-8 New York Islanders tonight.
Going against a NYI team that is a hair over .500, traded away a big roster piece at the deadline, and is just not that hot…it’s about as good of a bounce back game as one can hope for.
But, it’s the NHL, and nothing is a guaranteed win.
Look for the Cats to come out flying, knowing that the MTL loss is not indicative of this team’s play and ability.
