Worth a watch if you have the time. The biggest question mark has been Berggren. I’d heard and passed on rumors of a separation. He was big for GR in the first round of the playoffs owning all 3 game winners in that round. Whether things were patched up or the rumors of his unhappiness were over stated JB is apparently coming back to the D. I hope it works well for everyone, and got it wrong on that scenario. I felt like I had good information, but it ultimately did not come to pass.
Yzerman talked about Debrincat’s shooting %, Gustafsson as stepping in for Ghost and trying to finish up the 4 RFA deals. Also addressed trying to build a core and called last year’s near entry to the playoffs potentially “misleading”. He thinks the team can compete for a spot, but need health and players “outplaying expectation”.
Detroit then released a presser with Buium and Sandin-Pellikka. ASP has been building some chemistry with this year’s first round Michael Brandsegg Nygard first in Sweden, now here in camp and the two will be teammates in Sweden. Axel also talked about spending a long summer in Sweden and being able to put in time in the gym off ice and build strength. He’s been doing some of the corner drills fending off forwards as he works on the defensive side of development. Buium was at the draft as his brother was picked and the Denver program has been good for the family as the college has had championship success. ASP also got a taste of post season glory in Sweden and is looking for more before he transitions over to the US
