Embarrassing effort by Wings regular season roster, again

As the time ran out and it showed 30 shots with no goals for Detroit, it felt like 3 periods where they got shots but the team looks like they’re don’t care. Robertson, who looks like he hurt his shoulder early on, had 2 goals and outplayed most (if not all) of Detroit’s forwards.

There is a desire to find the positive, but it would be digging. This was an awful watch. The “B” team seems to put a lot more into their games than the regular roster does. It’s preseason, maybe there is an avoidance of injury at play. That doesn’t make it less terrible to watch.

If you’re making millions to play this sport this should be considered unacceptable. Talbot gave a good performance, 2 goals on 25 shots. Stolarz shut the door but Detroit couldn’t get into the crease. Boxed out by players trying to grab a roster spot.

There’s not much else to go into. Toronto came in and handed Detroit a preseason beat down and the vets don’t look like it bothers them nearly enough.

1st Period Detroit goals:

With 2:06 left in the first, Robertson scored for Toronto on the power play. 1-0 TOR

Shots: 9-5 Detroit
Score: 1-0 Toronto

2nd Period Detroit goals:

No goals scored

Shots: 17-16 TOR
Score: 1-0 TOR

3rd Period Detroit goals:

With 5:26 left Robertson scored again, 2-0 Leafs

With 4:10 left Detroit pulls the goalie. Larkin takes a penalty and puts Toronto on the power play.

Shots:30-25 Detroit
Score: 2-0 Toronto
