Patrick Kane is ready to go per PHR. The veteran has been out with an injury with an IR set retroactively to November 23rd. The Wings obviously hope for a reversal in fortunes as they face Ottawa tonight.
In the post above you can see Ken Kal and Daniella Bruce talk about multiple topics, including Larkin and Raymond being selected for the 4 Nations tournament.
Raymond has had a nice streak lately with a glimpse into his glove alterations being shown as just one of the tweaks the winger has made early on in the season. His performance has been a bright spot in what has felt (to many fans) like a season of disappointments. The conversations range from personnel changes on ice (the lost of Gostisbehere, Walman and others) to what some feel is a failed rebuild effort (just go through the comments in the archives). There are still fans preaching patience, but in the blogosphere there seems to be a palpable discontent amongst the faithful viewership.
The game tonight will either be a turn in a better direction or more of the same disappointment that has been vocalized within the comments. The reality of having the worst PK in the league, a defensive scheme that leaves the goalie in solo territory far too often, and a team that struggles to find a consistent vein of play has been remarked on, noted, and it is up to the organization to change that dynamic.
Congratulations to Larkin and Raymond for their selections to their respective 4 nations rosters (as well as to Sandin-Pellikka for his WJC appointment). Both the captain and Raymond seem to push toward better results and their individual effort doesn’t go unnoticed.
There just doesn’t seem to be any unified pattern or strategy that permeates the entire team (save for the power play). 5 minutes of strong play can quickly turn into a collapse and all hopes resting on the goaltender. Until changes are made, it appears that the organization is willing to stand pat with the current status quo.
We’ll see what happens as two of the bottom 3 teams in the division hit the ice tonight.
