It’s been a rare week when too many good things are happening around the Red Wings organization to keep up. Three ago Griffins coach Dan Watson was announced as the coach for the Central Division in the AHL all star game. Watson has been such a driving force for the team, I reposted my interview with him. His insights and philosophies were exciting to hear about and passion for the game just bleeds through his dialogue.
UPDATE: The #RedWings today signed Ondrej Becher to a three-year entry-level contract.
Detroit also signed Ondrej Becher to his ELC. A tough year statistically The 2024 3rd round pick was derailed by injury but seems to have shown enough that the organization wanted to get him inked.
A bit of a blissfully quiet day on January 1st to be sure. The move of the Winter Classic to New Year’s Eve was, it turns out, an attempt to get viewership back up. Scroll down in this article and you’ll see a viewership chart that shows a fairly steep dip when TNT began airing the event, then a bump, then another dip. Even before that you could see some up and down trends. New Year’s Day is a tough nut to crack competing with football. Just a quick note of interest.
Let me know your thoughts on Watson and Becher, hope you’re having a great 2025!
