The post holiday “bump” keeps rolling for Detroit as the Red Wings grabbed their 6th straight win against the Chicago Blackhawks. Goals by Debrincat, Raymond, Copp, Johansson and Kasper saw a rookie get his first, Kane get 3 well earned assists and a team that has found something special. The feel of the fan energy, the energy on the bench and on the ice all seem to be a 180 degree turn from a tough start.
Seeing Johansson get on the board was a special moment. The dman found a lane and gave Raymond a great lane to get the puck over and into the net. This team is feeling good and it’s contagious.
I still have notes/debates from a month or so ago insisting that a coaching change wouldn’t do much. I disagreed and found it to be true, even a broken clock is right twice a day. Todd’s energy, maturity and demeanor are such a different injection into pulling the team together and I hope you’re all getting a chance to enjoy this streak.
Let me know your favorite moments and what you hope to see moving forward. There are “rumors” of potential trades but for now, things feel pretty good in Motown.
if you missed this morning’s entry NCAA coach Rico Blasi was kind enough to spend half an hour talking hockey, favorite in game music and is an absolute student and fan of the game after more than 25 years as a head coach. Check it out if you get a chance! Subscribe if you can to Strings’nPucks, this will hopefully be a way to be able to keep blogging and following the greatest sport on earth!
