After taking a week off to watch as much NHL action as possible, I'm back with my daily game notes to better get a handle on teams/personnel. I will post a few plays when I feel strong about teams in solid spots.
Over the last 9 days, road teams are 35-29 after seeing a strong start to the season with home teams dominating, while a small edge to games going over the total at a 33-31 clip.
Overall, home teams are 124-106 to start the season with games going under the total on the season at 116-110-4.
OTT/PHI - 1pm EST - Two teams going in different directions. Sens winless in 7 and have gone over the total in 7 of their last 10 games. OTT terrible on the road vs. a great home team in PHI. Sens being the fav in this one, doesn't add up one bit. Lean to Flyers as a small dog at home.
EDM/FL - 4pm EST - Oilers playing their 4th in 6 nights on the road, while FL is still tough to beat at home. Panthers have won 4 of their last 5 games. Lean to FL but juice is high at -176. Knight confirmed in goal for FL.
AZ/NJ - Yotes have won 3 in a row, all 3 went under the total, with 6 of their last 7 going under the total. NJ has won 8 in a row and 9 of their last 10 games but -330 too rich for the juice. AZ playing with nothing with nothing to lose at +240 worth a small shot.
BOS/BUF - The Bruins have won 9 of their last 10 games, while the Sabres have cooled off losing 4 in a row. BOS has beat BUF in 9 of their last 10 games head to head, pass on BOS -200.
PIT/MTL - Pens are terrible on the road and are off a big win last night in TOR. Habs beat PIT earlier in the season as +223 dogs, worth a shot at +134.
VAN/TOR - Leafs lost last night, but the Canucks are a mess. VAN has been off since Wed. night and have gone over the total in 10 of 14 games. Leafs have PIT on deck again in a few nights. Pass for me as TOR is weak in goal right now.
CLB/NYI - Jackets are really banged up, while NYI have won 7 of their last 10 games. Korpisalo is confirmed in goal for CLB. Lean to NYI -1.5 +115.
NYR/NSH - NYR have been very inconsistent but NSH has been awful! NYR are having their father's trip, they looked great at DET and at -132, hard to pass up that price.
CAR/COL - CAR have played very well on the road and are a small dog +110 for a reason, Vegas is begging for Avs money with 2 of their D out tonight.
CHI/ANA - Soderblom confirmed in goal for CHI. Hawks have lost 6 of their last 7 games, 4 straight unders too. ANA has a a few injuries and have lost 7 straight to CHI! CHI +116, nice small dog.
STL/VGK - The Blues snapped their 8 game losing streak while VGK has won 9 in a row! VGK is off a 5 game roadie on the east coast, so be very weary of how they respond off the long road trip. STL +180 is a live dog.
WPG/CGY - Jets have won 6 of their last 7 games and all 3 games on their current 4 game homestand. Flames have lost 7 in a row and are off a tough 3 game east coast roadie. Two teams going in different directions. Jets +126 are worth a shot here.
DET/LA - Both teams are inconsistent to start the year and I can't back LA -210 at that price. Pass for me.
