The Leafs took a big step backwards last night in the battle of the Atlantic. The depleted Panthers are now four points up on the blue and white. Matthews and Marner both played over 21 minutes each but managed just 4 shots combined, neither made the score sheet.
Leafs are now 1-3-1 in their last 5 games. Their PK has struggled in those games, 9/14. Toronto is also 1-3-1 in their last 5 home games, 6 goals in the win and 6 total in the 4, non-triumphs.
Next up for the struggling Leafs are the Ottawa Senators. Ottawa has won both games vs Toronto this season, Leafs have managed one goal.

Senators sit comfortably in Wild Card 1 with 75 points, 5 up. Toronto better watch their rear view mirror, Leafs have 81 points and Tampa right behind them with 79, and well, if Ottawa wins in Toronto Saturday night. Then we have ourselves a playoff race.
