Call finalizing… Laine is headed to Montreal!

Despite market value potentially being at an all time low, it has been made abundantly clear by soon to be former Columbus Blue Jackets forward Patrik Laine that he no longer wants to play with the organization due to locker room issues.

Speculation station online has run rampant regarding reasonings ranging from his video gaming history dating back to Winnipeg to the coaching turnover of Brad Larsen and Pascal Vincent.

Laine has not played a game in the NHL since December 14, 2023. This past season, he had only 9 points in 18 games in the one and only Vincent season. He had suffered a concussion and fractured clavicle before spending time focusing on his mental health in the NHLPA Player Assistance Program.

He has been the summer training with the Cleveland Browns; setting up a mental health foundation, and getting engaged to his fiancé and partner in the foundation “From Us to You”

Laine already has made his estate in Columbus up on the market since April.

The former second overall draft selection of 2016 has this season and next season remaining on his contract, carrying a salary cap hit of $8.7M.

According to President/GM Don Waddell via TSN Bardown, two or three teams are engaging with the club about Laine.

Curious to see what the return package will be for the former 40 goal scorer.
