Ron Francis, the general manager of the Seattle Kraken, has always loved Joel Farabee, going back to his final years as GM of the Carolina Hurricanes. So this rumor is not that surprising.

Meanwhile, the Flyers are in need of a center, and Yanni Gourde is sort of having the same kind of season in Seattle that Joel is having here…Both make around 5 Million per, but Yanni is a pending UFA, while Joel has 3 years after this one on his contract..

Yanni is a rental, a leader/mentor type who has won two Cups back with Tampa, and would be a definite upgrade at the center position while also giving the Flyers 5 million more in Cap Space to go after a center this summer to play with Michkov.

This trade would make some business sense for sure…

However, I for one am a Farabee fan. I know he has had a really tough go of it this year, but the guy is pure heart and feels like a Flyer to me… I believe he is a bit where Konecny was a few years ago when Torts was riding Travis…. There were a few years there where I went back and forth on who was better: Konecny or Farabee?
