The New York Rangers made their home debut at Madison Square Garden against the New Jersey Devils for second night in row. The Rangers won the game 2-0 and the Devils had one shot on goal in frist period. It also marked the debut of Brendan Shanahan and Matt Cullen, two free agent acquisitions. " I felt butterfiles before the game", said Shanahan after the game in the Ranger dressing room. He played on line with Martin Straka and Michael Nylander. "Getting use to each other and talking on the bench after shifts. My role on that line is to go to the net." Brendan continued. Asked if he preferred to play left or right wing, Shanahan said ,it doesn't matter to me." Matt Cullen also made his Ranger debut, scoring a goal and playing with Petr Prucha and Greg Moore." All the tradition,This building(Madison Square Garden) has a unique electric feel, when you come in its so easy to get excited because you playing in New York". Cullen said. He had the number 5 on his back. Another forward who had the number 5 on his back and played for the New York Rangers was The late Boom-Boom Geoffrion. The styles between the two teams The Hurricanes and Rangers their both play up tempo and alot of skating, a few differences and will pick them up as we go. Cullen also played the point on the power play and said he found it nice to see everything in front of you. Jarmomir Jager has not received clearance to play by the doctors, according to the NY Post. He'll probably won't play until the last pre-season game in Boston September 30. Defensman Michal Rozsival will undergo surgery to repair a medial meniscus tear in his right knee. He is expected to be out of lineup two weeks. Last season Rozsival played in all 82 games and registerd 5 goals and 25 assists and 90 penalty minutes and was a plus 35. Hernik Lindquist played the whole 60 minutes, which is strange in the second pre-season game. He shutout the Devils and stopped 22 shots and got the first star. "It was a good first game and felt great to be back in Garden and brought alot of memories back." Lindquist said. Next up for Rangers is a trip Saturday to San Juan, Puerto Rico vs The Florida Panthers. I hope the ice doesn't melt. The Rangers are 2-0 in the Pre-Season.
