You just HAVE to love this guy. Asking Garth Snow to get the NHL to approve and recognize Arbour's coaching one more time: Priceless.
Nolan was successful in getting the OK to have Al Arbour sign a 1-day contract so he can reach 1,500 all-time games coached.
Ted Nolan: "Every day last season I would walk by that big board outside our locker room at the Coliseum that lists the franchise's award winners and milestones. And every day it would kill me when I'd see Coach Arbour made it to 1,499 games."
That's class, appreciation of the game's history, and respect for Al Arbour's impact on the Islanders legacy personified.
