Will today be the day the New Jersey Devils move into first place in the Metropolitan Division?
Currently, the Devils are one point behind the Carolina Hurricanes with both teams have played 80 regular season games. Tonight the Devils will take on the Sabres, who beat the New York Rangers last night at Madison Square Garden in a shootout.
It will go down to the wire with the Devils needing help from Carolina. However, tt will not be an easy task for the Hurricanes. They play tonight against the Detroit Red Wings after losing to the Ottawa Senators in regulation the night before. Carolina will finish their season in Sunrise when they take on the Florida Panthers, who are vying for a wildcard spot.
Luke Hughes To Play Today
Luke Hughes will make his NHL debut tonight on Devils Appreciation Night. Hughes, who played for the Michigan Wolverines in the past two years, signed an entry level contract several days ago. Devils fans have been waiting for this moment since Hughes was drafted 4th overall in the 2021 NHL entry draft.
Devils Most Points In Regular Season Record
Jack Hughes can break the all-time Devils record for the most points in the regular season. Hughes is currently tied with Patrik Elias (2000-01) with 96 points. With two games remaining, Hughes has an opportunity to break the record and also be the first Devil to ever score 100 points in one season. Could it happen tonight?
