Just looking over the official list of RFAs who will be filing for arbitration and Mackenzie Weegar's name caught my eye.

The signing of Stralman is great and helps address the defense, but I think there's still some depth needed there and Weegar is a young (only 25), resilient guy that brings an edge and relatively simple game on the backend.

He played a career-high 64 games last year, where he averaged around 16-20 minutes a night while bouncing around partners in the chaotic defensive scheme (or lack thereof) that was being run on the Florida blue line.

I'm not sure what Tallon's plans are for the future, etc., but I think it would be great if the two sides can come to a deal that makes sense prior to the process kicking off...

I'm not sure if anyone listened to the latest episode of the Territory Talk Podcast, but it was awesome. They interview Bob and Tallon and also provided a ton of insight into the recently signed Cats, as well we a glimpse into Florida's future.

Kevin Roy Signed

The Panthers continued adding depth to the organ-I-zation today when they signed former Duck forward Kevin Roy to a one-year contract worth $850K at the NHL level and a $300K in the A.

Our friends over at Litter Box Cats have a nice write up about Roy. Below is what they had to say:

"Roy spent the last three seasons as a member of the Anaheim Ducks after the franchise drafted him 97th overall in the 2012 NHL Entry Draft out of Northeastern University."

Adding:

"The 26-year-old has appeared in a total of 28 NHL games, producing six goals and one assist, all during the 2017-18 season when he spent 25 games with the Ducks.

In 125 career AHL games, Roy has amassed 88 points on 31 goals and 57 assists, all with the San Diego Gulls. In 18 Calder Cup playoff games, he has scored four goals and four assists."

It sounds like he'll be a great addition to the Thunderbirds and will be in the front of the line to be called up due to any injuries and so forth.
