Greer signed to one-year contract

The Avalanche on Thursday announced they’ve signed forward A.J. Greer to a one-year contract for the upcoming season.

It’s a two-way deal worth $735,000 in the NHL and $90,000 in the minors.

NHL All-Star right wing Mikko Rantanen, a restricted free agent, has to yet to sign a new contract.

Greer, 22, was a restricted free agent. He had his first career NHL goal and an assist in 15 games with the Avalanche last season, 44 points (19 goals, 25 assists) in 54 games with the AHL Colorado Eagles.

He has a goal and five assists in 37 career NHL games.

The 6-foot-3, 210-pound Greer was the Avalanche’s second-round pick (No. 39) in the 2015 NHL draft.

Greer has 95 points (42 goals, 53 assists) in 152 career AHL games, three assists in four AHL playoff games.
