There is no shortage of marquee duos in the Metro Division but I think Sidney Crosby and Jake Guentzel are the best of the bunch. At least they were last season.

In ~1,100 minutes together at 5v5, they controlled ~55% of the shot attempts, and nearly 57% of the expected goals. This while absolutely crushing the opposition on the scoreboard, scoring 72 goals while only allowing 36.

Guentzel finished 2nd to John Tavares in 5v5 goals, Crosby finished 2nd to Nikita Kucherov in 5v5 assists, and both players finished top-10 in 5v5 points.

Across all game states, only 11 players scored more goals than Guentzel while Crosby hit the 100-point plateau for the first time since 2013-14.

This duo was borderline unstoppable. With Crosby showing no signs of slowing down, and Guentzel just entering the prime of his career, that may well be the case again in 2019-20.

Peter Tessier

I'm going to go with an easy pick even though there are some great combos in the Metro. I've long been a fan of Couturier and what he has done the last few seasons is fairly amazing and he and Giroux had another solid outing together last season.

In over 600 mins of 5v5 ice time

CF% 58.10
SF% 56.95
xGF% 54.91
SCF% 56.59

But their success was not driven by a high shooting percentage or insane goaltending either as they had a 980 PDO- 10% shooting and .880 goaltending.

These guys were a dynamic duo.
