Mini-Preview: Flyers at Islanders

Featuring different lineups from the ones that met in Philadelphia on Monday night's preseason opener, Barry Trotz's New York Islanders (1-0-0) and Alain Vigneault's Philadelphia Flyers (0-1-0) will rematch on Tuesday night at the Nassau Coliseum in Uniondale.

On Monday night, at the Wells Fargo Center, the Islanders prevailed, 3-1.

Flyers head coach Alain Vigneault, who indicated on Sunday that the group that skated in the afternoon session on Day 3 of training camp -- minus Sean Couturier and Claude Giroux -- would comprise the lineup for Tuesday's game. Morgan Frost was originally slated to play on Monday, but is day-to-day with a minor groin issue. There is a chance he could appear on Tuesday, depending on how he is feeling.

Right winger Travis Konecny, who signed a six-year deal at a $5.5 million AAV on Monday afternoon, will report to training camp on Tuesday. He will skate with the group that played in Monday's game and is not traveling to New York. Wednesday is an off-day for all of the healthy players in camp, but Konecny will come to the Skate Zone that day for a video session.

Lineups for Tuesday's game will be posted for both teams when available. What is known is that Carter Hart will get the start in goal. Below are potential Flyers lines for Tuesday, based on Sunday's groupings, less Couturier, Giroux and Cal O'Reilly (who started in Frost's place on Monday).

82 Connor Bunnaman - 21 Scott Laughton - 12 Michael Raffl (Sunday combo)
81 Carsen Twarynski - 10 Andy Andreoff - 62 Nicolas Aube-Kubel (Sunday combo)
78 Matthew Strome - [replacement for O'Reilly] - 29 Kurtis Gabriel (Sunday combo)

72 David Kase skated on right wing with Couturier and Giroux on Sunday.
48 Morgan Frost (day-to-day, groin) is questionable for Tuesday.

9 Ivan Provorov - 15 Matt Niskanen (paired throughout camp)
8 Robert Hägg - 6 Travis Sanheim (paired on Sunday)
43 T.J. Brennan - 39 Nate Prosser (paired on Sunday)
26 Tyler Wotherspoon - 59 Mark Friedman (paired on Sunday; could be extras for Tue.)

Carter Hart (starter)
[One of J.F. Berube or Felix Sandström]

Wrapup: Islanders 3 - Flyers 1

In the preseason opener for both teams. the Flyers dropped a 3-1 decision to the New York Islanders at the Wells Fargo Center on Monday night.

Thomas Hickey (1st) opened the scoring for New York. Tryout defenseman Luca Sbisa (1st) restored an Islanders lead early in the third period. Erik Brown (1st, ENG) sealed the win for New York. James van Riemsdyk (1st) scored for the Flyers. Jakub Voracek and Kevin Hayes earned the assist.

Brian Elliott and Semyon Varlamov started in goal for their respective teams, yielding one goal each. They were replaced midway through the second period by Alex Lyon for the Flyers and Christopher Gibson for the Islanders.

An early Islanders goal stood as the lone tally of the first period. The Flyers had the game's first two power plays but were unable to to capitalize on either man advantage. A van Riemsdyk tally and four straight successful penalty kills by the Flyers got the game to the second intermission tied at 1-1.

Sbisa put the Islanders ahead 2-1 early in the third period. Brown sealed the win with a late empty netter.
