Quick Hits: Flyers Return, Phantoms, Flyers Warriors

Quick Hits: October 6, 2019

1) The Flyers returned from Prague to Philadelphia yesterday. After a day to recuperate and readjust to the eastern U.S. time zone, the team will begin preparations for Wednesday's home opener against the New Jersey Devils.

2) AHL: The Lehigh Valley Phantoms dropped their regular season opener, 3-0, to the Providence Bruins on Saturday. Newcomer J-F Berube was in net for Scott Gordon's team. Morgan Frost made his pro hockey debut. He had one shot on goal and created a power play for the Phantoms. Joel Farabee and Phil Meyers are not yet with the team, as they remained with the Flyers until returning with the team from its European trip.

3) The Flyers Warriors have advanced to the 2019 USA Hockey Warrior Classic championship game after defeating the Colorado Avalanche Warriors, 9-4, in the semifinals. Earlier in the day, the Flyers Warrriors blew out the Capital Beltway Warriors, 9-1. On Sunday at 3 p.m. ET (noon Pacific), Philly takes on the North Carolina Warriors in the finals at City National Arena in Las Vegas.

4) La Nouvelle Union reported this weekend that Flyers prospect Egor Serdyuk, who has missed the Victoriaville Tigres' last three games with a lower-body injury, has come to Philadelphia to be examined by Flyers team doctors. Serdyuk, before going down, racked up six goals in the QMJHL season's first four games.

5) Flyers 2018 first-round pick Jay O'Brien collected a goal and three assists as his Penticon Vess ran their record to 10-0-0 with a 5-3 win on Saturday over the Wenatchee Wild. O'Brien, who has eight points over his last three games, now has 17 points (6g, 11a) over the first 10 games of the BCHL regular season.
