The New York Islanders look to rebound from their opening night loss and pick up their first win of the season tonight when they host the Winnipeg Jets. Here’s the pre-game report.

According to The Winnipeg Sun’s Ted Wyman, the Islanders’ projected lines are:

Lee - Barzal- Eberle
Dal Colle - Nelson - Bailey
Beauvillier - Brassard - Komarov
Martin - Cizikas - Clutterbuck

Pelech - Pulock
Toews - Mayfield
Leddy - Boychuk

Greiss
Varlamov

Thomas Greiss is the expected starter for the Islanders. It also looks like Noah Dobson will be scratched again (and I am very against New York going this route).

Here are Winnipeg’s lines, according to NHL.com’s Cory Wright.

Ehlers - Scheifele - Wheeler
Connor - Copp - Laine
Bourque - Lowry - Letestu
Perreault - Roslovic - Appleton

Morrissey - Kulikov
Heinola - Pionk
Bitetto - Poolman

Brossoit
Hellebuyck

Winnipeg lost their first game against the Rangers on Thursday before squeaking out of New Jersey with an overtime victory on Friday. The Jets’ defense is certainly significantly weaker than where we saw it last year. Out are Dustin Byfuglien, Tyler Myers and Jacob Trouba. Laurent Brossoit is expected to get into his second game of the season.

Bringing this back from last year, for each pre-game report I’ll try to do an overperformers and underperformers section. This looks at who, on either team, historically overperforms or underperforms against the specific opponent they’re playing in the upcoming game and what their career stats are against the team (and you’ll definitely want to take a look at Anders Lee’s stats versus Winnipeg).

OVERPERFORMERS
NYI- Mathew Barzal has four goals and five points in four games vs WPG.
NYI- Leo Komarov has seven points in 13 games vs WPG.
NYI- Nick Leddy has eight points in 15 games vs WPG.

WPG- Kyle Connor has four points in four games vs NYI.
WPG- Adam Lowry has six goals and nine points in 10 games vs NYI.
