Waking up 1-0. šŸ˜ #Sabres50

A post shared by Buffalo Sabres (@buffalosabres) on

Rasmus Dahlin isn't the only big deal Swede performing admirably for the Buffalo Sabres right now.

Razzle Dazzle's former Frolunda HC teammate, Victor Olofsson, is dropping jaws himself.

In fact, Dahlin and Olofsson sit atop the scoring list for the Buffalo Sabres.

Olofsson is merely continuing his torrid scoring pace that he authored last season when in 66 games played for the Rochester Amerks, scored 30 goals and 33 assists.

In April, I wrote that Olofsson would be my choice for 2019-20 Calder Trophy winner in the NHL. Good luck convincing me you had selected Olofsson to be your rookie of the year candidate.

The rookie sniper is delivering when the Sabres need him to create offense the most.

Olofsson, 24, now plays wing on alongside Jack Eichel and Samson Reinhart on Buffalo's top forward trio.

Nothing has been given to the former 7th round pick (#181, 2014 NHL Draft). Olofsson has earned this opportunity and is proving his GM Jason Botterill and head coach Ralph Krueger correct in their decision making process.

Olofsson enters Wednesday night's home game against the Montreal Canadiens on a career-best three-game point streak after scoring 3G and 1A in Buffalo's first three games of their Golden Anniversary season.

Olofsson skated a career-high 20:54 on Monday night at Columbus and scored a goal with 1:14 remaining in regulation to send the game OT.

Olofsson has become the trigger man on Buffalo's first power play unit which features Oloffsson, Jack Eichel, Rasmus Dahlin, Jeff Skinner, and Samson Reinhart. The Sabres currently lead the NHL in power play efficiency with a sizzling 60% closing rate ( 6 PPG on 10 PPA).

All three of Olofssonā€™s goals this season have come with the man advantage, giving him sole possession of the NHL lead in power-play goals (3).

Olofsson also leads all NHL rookies in goals (3), points (4) and shots (9), and leads rookie forwards in ice time per game (19:04).

Since he made his NHL debut on March 28, 2019 against the Detroit Red Wings, no NHL player has scored more power play goals than Olofssonā€™s five in his nine games played.

The Sabres are already 2-0-1 this season. In 2018-19, it took the Sabres four months to finally win back-to-back games.

This is the first time Buffalo has started a season with points in three straight games since the team went 4-0-1 through its first five games of the 2009-10 season.

The goal is for the Sabres is to start the season with wins in both of the teamā€™s first two home games for the first time since the 2008-09 season, when they won their first three games.

Ralph Krueger has already gotten points from 14 different players this season. Rasmus Dahlin (1G,4A), Victor Olofsson (3G,1A) and Sam Reinhart (2G,2A) have all earned at least one point in each of the Sabres' first three games.
