It’s Game Night in Smashville as the Washington Capitals hit town to close out a season starting four game home stand. The Caps come into tonight’s game fresh off an overtime loss to Dallas and owners of a 2-0-2 record. Washington has been an interesting team to watch in their first four games, they posted wins in their first two games, both on the road… then went home to lose two straight in overtime… both games where they have blown late leads.

Nashville returns to the ice tonight after a very satisfying 5-2 win over the San Jose Sharks, bouncing back from a Saturday night loss to Detroit and raising their record to 2-1-0. Nashville has owned the Caps in Smashville over the past seven seasons, going 6-1-0 and winning the last three games by an aggregate score of 18-7.

The Predators are off to a solid stat, led by Matt Duchene’s 6 assists and Filip Forsberg’s 3 goals. The line of Duchene, Forsberg and Mikael Granlund has combined for a total of 11 points in the first three games of the season. Duchene is in a five-way tie for the NHL lead in assists. While the Duchene line is gathering the headlines right now, the rest of the team is contributing as well… 16 of the 19 skaters that have played in a game have registered at least a point.

At morning skate, it did appear that Pekka Rinne would be in net and that Daniel Carr may be drawing into the lineup as he was skating on a line with Kyle Turris and Craig Smith. Calle Jarnkrok was skating with Johansen and Arvidsson this morning.

Always fun when the Caps come to town… game time is 7pm at Bridgestone Arena. Coverage on Fox Sports Tennessee and 102.5 the Game.

- I know it is only two games in… but the Flyers have found their goaltender… Carter Hart has been excellent in net for the Fly-boys.
