The New York Islanders are in Carolina tonight to take on the Hurricanes. Here’s the pre-game report.

According to NHL.com’s Kurt Dusterberg, Carolina's lineup will be:

Svechnikov - Staal - McGinn
Niederreiter - Aho - Teravainen
Dzingel - Haula - Necas
Foegele - Wallmark - Gauthier

Slavin - Hamilton
Edmundson - Pesce
Gardiner - Fleury

Mrazek
Reimer

The Hurricanes have gotten off to a hot start, going 4-0 to start the year. Jordan Martinook is out for over a month, so Julien Gauthier will make his NHL debut on the fourth line. Petr Mrazek is projected to start in goal.

According to Dusterberg, the Islanders projected lineup will be:

Lee - Barzal - Eberle
Bailey - Nelson - Kuhnhackl
Beauvillier - Brassard - Dal Colle
Martin - Komarov - Clutterbuck

Pelech - Pulock
Toews - Mayfield
Leddy - Dobson

Greiss
Varlamov

With Casey Cizikas as a gametime decision, Leo Komarov may slot in as fourth-line center, which would cause a bit of a ripple effect with the Islanders’ wingers. Michael Dal Colle would take over for Komarov as the right winger on the third line, while Josh Bailey moves over to play left wing on the second line and Tom Kuhnhackl would get into his first game of the year as a right winger with Bailey and Nelson. In my opinion, it doesn’t make a ton of sense to bring Kuhnhackl up to the second line, regardless of how temporary this would be. Keep Dal Colle on the second line and slot Kuhnhackl in on the third.

Thomas Greiss is expected to start his second game of the year, continuing the Islanders’ rotation in net. Noah Dobson remains paired with Nick Leddy while Johnny Boychuk is expected to sit again.

Puck drop is at 7 p.m.
