Tonight the Wild finally get a home game as the play host to a battered Penguins squad.

Pittsburgh will be without Evgeni Malkin, Alex Galchenyuk, Nick Bjugstad, and Bryan Rust.

Last season the Wild struggled on home ice, so getting a win tonight is all that much more important. Regardless of who the opponent is the Wild need to start to establish their own identity.

The veterans we know are on the other side if their prime yet they still have significant value in the lineup. We have often talked about how the next generation of Wild forwards needed to take the step forward for a few years.

Well now there is only one of those guys left, that being Jason Zucker. Zucker himself was nearly dealt on two separate occasions however he survived and former GM, Paul Fenton ended up being dismissed.

Zucker was noticeably happy that he was not traded and now it is up to him to show his new GM that he belongs and is worth the contract he was awarded prior to last season.

Zucker is not the only one who has to step up, Kevin Fiala and Ryan Donato must become consistent contributors to the Wild offense and quickly.

Time to see the Wild turn things around on home ice.

It's always Hockey Day in the State of Hockey!
