Roenick says this is 'Goal of the Year'

Columbus played a game last night. Sonny Milano had a goal in that game. It proved to be the game winner. Afterwards JR dubbed it 'Goal of the Year'. It may be a little too early for it to be 'Goal of the Year' but it is pretty. And here it is from multiple angles:

The victory leveled the CBJ record at 3-3, giving them 6 points and moving them into 4th place in the Metro with a trip to CHI on Friday. Several good things happened last night.

1. Sonny Milano had the above goal that put the Jackets into the hockey spotlight for at least a few minutes last night. Kid has talent, I hope he can stick in the NHL this season, he looks to have finally matured.

2. Korpisalo made 30 saves, only giving up 2 goals and had a .938 Sv%. He looked more comfortable than Bishop on the ice and made the game feel like it was never in doubt. Even when DAL controlled the puck for long stretches he seemed to have a calm presence.

3. The Jackets played well from a position of strength. They got a lead, extended the lead then played strong team defense. The late goal to make it a one-goal game was inconsequential in this one, but is a disturbing trend as they have given up late goals before, most notably in an OT win over BUF.

4. Wennberg has started to carry play. He had a goal and that always makes people look up and take notice. His play the last few games has been stronger. He is driving play, forcing turnovers as well as playing his usually defensively-minded game. His continued improvement could be a bellweather for the Jackets season.

After dropping the first two games of the season and looking extremely bad in doing so, Columbus has won 3 of 4. They have the day off Thursday and then play 3 in 4 days. It would be good for them to bank 4 or more points in that stretch of games. The likelihood of seeing Elvis in one of those games is high. His bounce-back performance will be interesting to watch.

Go Jackets, thanks for reading.
