It's Monday and I have been on the phone since early this morning...
Puljujarvi talk heats up...
People are starting to talk about the end of December deadline for trading Jesse Puljujarvi who is currently playing in Finland....The Oilers are holding a nice chip here and they know it. The issue of trading for Puljujarvi is he has yet to show his talents in the NHL, and many feel it has a lot to do with his struggles with North America and not having a strong Finnish player to mentor him...
There are four teams interested in Puljujarvi.
On Winnipeg...
Obviously Patrik Laine and Jesse Puljujarvi have a history...from a Jets perspective, they only have Laine on a short deal and maybe getting Puljujarvi in would further put his roots into Winnipeg....
On Rangers...
The Rangers and New York is a great place for a Finn. There is a solid Finnish community on NY...Also, Kakko is already enjoying the big apple and could help JP transition...
On the Canadiens...
Montreal is another good fit and has seen great players like Saku Koivu who is revered in the great city...The Habs also lead the NHL with four Fins on their current roster, of course led by Jesperi Kotkaniemi.
Sabres looking at Tobias Rieder...
Rieder just passed through waivers for the Flames, so obviously the Sabres would want the FLames to take some money back....However Krueger likes Rieder and had a lot of success coaching him for team Europe...
Byfuglien on the move?
I am starting to hear rumors that Dustin could be traded and the Wild have interest....Looking into this more...
