West Coast Trip May Tell The Wild Tale

Tonight the Wild kick off a four game West Coast trip with a visit to Anaheim. Coming off their first OT contest of the season, a 4-3 loss at home to the Blues Saturday night, the boys look to turn the road woes around.

One and eight so far for the Wild away from the friendly confines of the XCEL Energy Center they need to figure things out fast or the season could slip away before they get two weeks into November.

I don't know how many times it can be said or what message Bill Guerin gives to his head coach about where this team is going and what needs to be done to move them forward. It is obvious that Boudreau has no intentions of making any adjustments to incorporate the youth enmass.

When the game turns to 3 on 3 for the deciding point to see the captain on the ice is simply not a smart approach. This is not an indictment of Mikko Koivu as he works his tail off shift in and shift out, however he is overmatched in a skating game that has a direct impact on points in the standings.

Time to call out Boudreau on this one. Yes, BB is a very good NHL coach that has earned his way this far. That does not get him any kind of pass to continue to trot out the trusted few rather than the few that may actually be able to compete.

That of course is a maybe no doubt, and that maybe is at least a hope that provides the opportunity of a positive result.

Changes are coming for the Wild and once they do the team will be a lot more interesting to watch. For now it is more of the same as Boudreau's boys are set to take on his former club, the Duck.

It's always Hockey Day in The State of Hockey!
