Coyotes Lose Third in a Row and Now Face Insane Gauntlet of Games

The Coyotes have now lost three in a row, but really, just two.

First they lost to Calgary, which wasn't really a loss because it was in overtime.

Then again, that was one of the worst games I've ever seen them play, and they didn't really deserve even a loser point in that game, so maybe it is fair to say they've lost three in a row.

But the weird thing is, that despite losing to two of the NHL's worst teams this weekend - the Wild and the Blue Jackets - the Coyotes didn't even play badly.

They played much worse earlier in the week against Calgary, when they got a point. They were pretty bad against the Oilers and they actually won that game. Last weekend they shut-out the Avalanche while playing awful.

That's how she goes though - if you win a couple games you deserved to lose, you'll probably lose a couple games you deserved to win.

Last night was kind of a stinger because of the blown lead, but when Darcy Kuemper is as good as he's been lately, you can't begrudge him one bad game.

In other news, the Coyotes made Barrett Hayton a healthy scratch for reasons only they can comprehend. He needs just 1 more game to kick in his first NHL contract and he isn't going anywhere.

Since he's staying, and since they generally are not a high scoring team, you'd think they'd play him, but what do I know?

The Coyotes hit the road this week to play back-to-backs against the Blues and Capitals, and that really makes no beating the Jackets and Wild hurt because outside of the Leafs - who are climbing the standings, and the Lightning who soon will as well - those are probably your two best teams in the league.

Good times !
