The streak is at 17.

The New York Islanders are in Anaheim tonight looking to continue a ridiculous, almost quarter-season long point streak.

Since the start of the streak, Mathew Barzal has 19 points in 17 games. Derick Brassard also has 15 points in his last 13 games. Anders Lee has been a bit slow but the team is still getting more offense than expected out of most players.

Thomas Greiss is likely to start in net for the Islanders, holding a ridiculous .934 save percentage in 11 games. Semyon Varlamov has been good too but you have to wonder if Greiss may start to pull away and get a few more games here and there based on how well he’s performed thus far. I imagine New York’s long-term plan in goal still doesn’t include Greiss but if he keeps up this pace, it could make at least a bit of thought necessary.

The Ducks are on a major skid right now, having won just one of their last eight games. They do still have a 6-4-2 record at home though. Jakob Silfverberg leads the team with nine goals and 18 points in 24 games. John Gibson is expected to start for Anaheim.

The Islanders and Ducks split the two-game season series last year. Puck drop is at 10 p.m.
