The Arizona Coyotes and Detroit Red Wings have made a trade.
After completely running out of goalies, the Red Wings have acquired goalie Eric Comrie from the Coyotes for a player whose name we'll learn to spell later - Villi Saarijarvi.
Comrie sat on the bench as a back-up for the Coyotes a few times, but all five NHL games he's played in came with the Jets. He's a former second round pick, and some people think he could be pretty good, but the Coyotes have two high-quality NHL goalies and Comrie is 24 so he's probably not in their plans.
Besides they have Adin Hill, who is higher on their depth chart.
(Weird aside, the Coyotes AHL team, the Tuscon Roadrunners has used five different goalies this year so far).
In exchange for Comrie, the Coytoes get Villi Saarijarvi, a 3rd rounder from 2017.
He is a defenseman who does not seem to have any offensive upside. I'll learn more about him and write about it later.
As for Last night, the Coyotes lost 2-1 in a shootout.
This is the sixth shootout of the Coyotes season which is second most in the NHL, to Philly's eight. The Coyotes have good goalies and no one who can score, so it's not surprising at all.
But 25% of your games going to a shoot-out is inane, either way.
To sum up: good game, shootouts suck, trade seems OK, who knows?
