SO many great questions as we finish up loose ends here in 2019...Here is part 1 of my answers to last week's questions...
here we go...
Thatsapickle asks…
Will the Sabres be actively pursuing top 6 forward help? I know that there have been conversations, but is there anything close? The team cannot rely on Eichel to be the driving force, and without a legit 2C, they will be scratching and clawing to maintain any semblance of hope..
Ek…
I wish I could say this is happening faster than it appears to be, but so far I only get the sense the Sabres are going to wait for the deadline. I know they have Kreider and Toffoli as two major targets...I think Kreider is the better fit.
OzBolts asks…
If you're Julien BrisBois.... what the hell do you do for this season and going forward?
Ek….
To use the username of the first question...That's a pickle. The Lightning regular season this year is being downplayed, but maybe a little too much for my liking.. The Lightning has all the right parts in place already and they are built to be competitive for many years to come. As long as Vasy stabilizes I believe they will be there..They just need to make the playoffs..
SgtMik asks
Now that Ghost is back in the Flyers lineup and playing better, is there still a realistic possibility that he gets moved?
Ek...
Yes. I still think the staff feels he is the best chip to fill a hole. I really like Gostisbehere and wish they would focus more on playing to his specific strengths.. Unfortunately I get the sense they see him as to much of a roller coaster emotionally…
Drunken Canuck Asks…
EK, what will the Price Tag be on Byfuglien in the new year? He clearly wants out of Winnipeg.
Ek…
If he is healthy and ready to go Byfuglien can demand a small ransom still. Some people don’t believe that to be true, but the reality Byfuglien has his share of fans among some NHL GMs. The issue will be getting him healthy, proving he is healthy, and then convincing Chevy it is better to move him out than just sit back.
Wbon22 asks..
What the Ek? Will the Flyers be buyers this year at the deadline?
Ek…
100% yes. There is an obvious WIN NOW mandate… See the Braun and Niskanen moves…
Devils622 asks…
What the Ek is NJ doing with the D? Hall is gone but nothing addressed the current D or the D of the future. Bahl is second pairing at best.
Ek…
From what we see now you are dead on. However, this is Ray Shero and he comes from the David Poile school of finding great D-men. With the Hall contract gone Shero is looking at a ton of maneuverability..He will use it. And don’t be shocked if the Devils benefit from the expansion draft players who are going to be available.
