The Rangers have a problem. The old adage goes like this...

Having One Great Goalie is dangerous. Having Two Great Keepers is Amazing. Having Three Keepers is a quagmire....

Essentially, think of it this way...When a team practices there are only two nets. So when there are three goalies it's an issue... And yes it is not a BAD problem to have...especially in this era where the backup is more than vital...What you do with that extra goalie is absolutely an issue.

In an age where teams are more likely than ever to deal a player within their division/conference, teams HATE trading a goalie in their conference or division...That is one certainty. There is a long history in this league of goalies coming back to haunt teams.

So the Rangers have an issue.

King Henry is still on the throne... Backup Alexander Georgiev has been better as Henry's back up but the real money is on Igor Shesterkin... The Rangers took their time with this kid. They have waited 5 years to give him the net, but last night Igor Shesterkin got his first start as a Ranger, in MSG and led NY to a 5-3 victory of the high powered Avalanche. The building was electric and Shesterkin appeared to have "made it there" but looked like he could frankly "make it anywhere."

This start came with both the King and Georgiev perfectly healthy...Something is up..

And that would be Georgiev... Two teams are looking hard at the kid. Toronto and Calgary both have made him a priority, while word is Vancouver and possibly even Colorado is also letting it be known they have interest....

And all these teams make sense. The Leafs have turned things around and Hutchinson has been better, but my sources say they see Georgiev as not only a great backup, but the potential 1A into the starter that the Leafs young core needs to grow with them...

The Flames have gotten fair goaltending at times, but there is no doubt Georgiev makes a huge difference moving ahead...

Something could give soon I am told...

What say you?
