Seeler Claimed By Hawks

As expected Nick Seeler was claimed off waivers but the worst part about this, is that he was claimed by the Blackhawks.

Seeler deserves the opportunity to play in the NHL and with the Wild he had lost his position to Carson Soucy.

This has been a developing story for quite some time and I have to believe that Bill Guerin did his best to find a trade partner before letting Seeler be exposed to the waiver process.

Guerin made a choice though, which is a different path than his predecessors had done most notably Chuck Fletcher, who was more worried about losing a player for nothing than making the difficult decisions to make the team better.

Will Seeler be missed? For sure, he came to work every day with a team first attitude working for everything he has earned up to this point.

Will the Blackhawks get a very solid defenseman that plays a no nonsense game making opponents earn their ice in front of his goaltender? Absolutely, that is who Nick Seeler is and we wish him well.

The organization depth at defense made Seeler the ofd man out with the emergence of Soucy along with the strong play of Brennan Menell and Louie Belpedio the writing was on the wall.

The transition of the roster is happening and Guerin will be putting his stamp on the roster in the next few weeks.

After Saturday's debacle it should be quite obvious what needs to be done. The recent history of teams caught in similar cap strapped situations need to be studied by Guerin.

The Wild are in desperate need of a creative GM.
