After taking a day off on Valentine's Day, the Vegas Golden Knights (29-22-8) hit the ice for a morning skate ahead of tonight's tilt with the New York Islanders (33-17-6). Following two 6-5 overtime thrillers at home, expect a more low-scoring game against Barry Trotz's defensively-sound Isles. Puck drop is scheduled for 7:30pm. Here are a few takeaways from this morning's skate.

It Was Quiet....er:

Jonathan Marchessault, resident chirper, was noticably absent from the morning skate. He was the hero on Thursday evening, netting the overtime winner, but is a game-time decision tonight, per Head Coach Pete DeBoer.

UnTuched:

Alex Tuch went down with an apparent leg injury in Thursday night's overtime victory. His status has been updated to "week-to-week" with said lower-body injury. DeBoer wants his team to crash the net and Tuch is one of the best. His absence is detrimental to the club. Fortunately, his replacement isn't too shabby.

Glass Half Full:

After his injury and a conditioning game with the Chicgao Wolves (AHL), Cody Glass has returned. He will slot into the lineup for the injured Tuch, playing the wing on L3. He skated with Chandler Stephenson and Cody Eakin this morning. A line with three centers, that's exciting.

Zach is Back:

Zach Whitecloud skated alongside Jon Merrill once again, with Deryk Engelland serving as the odd man out. Whitecloud and Merrill have been a good pair since the former's promotion and Whitecloud credits their communication above all.

"Jonny made me feel comfortable right away, especially with his communication and his defensive play. It's easy to read off him."
- Zach Whitecloud

#GoldPads:

They've been back for two days of practice and knowing how superstitious Marc-Andre Fleury and hockey players in general are, they will be making an appearance tonight. Fleury has been in a rough patch and he's pulling out all the stops to get out of it.

Anticipated Lineup:

Marchessault - Stastny - Smith
Pacioretty - Karlsson - Stone
Stephenson - Eakin - Glass
Carrier - Nosek - Reaves

McNabb - Schmidt
Holden - Theodore
Merrill - Whitecloud
