Zach Bogosian and the Buffalo Sabres are officially divorced.


At Noon Friday, Bogosian was placed on unconditional waivers for the purpose of contract termination. Bogosian become a free agent and must sign a deal by Monday to be eligible to play for an NHL club in the Stanley Cup playoffs.


On Monday, Sabres GM Jason Botterill suspended Bogosian for failure to report to the Rochester Americans.

Botterill worked hard to accommodate Bogosian’s trade request from earlier this season. It is believed that Botterill was willing to eat 50% of Bogosian’s remaining portion of his $5.1M AAV 2019-20 salary.

There were no trade takers.

This season, Bogosian played in 19 games scoring 1 goal and 4 assists.

In 243 games played over six seasons in Buffalo, Bogosian scored 13 goals and 54 assists.

In his 12 year NHL career, Bogosian played 636 games and scored 53 goals and 141 assists for 194 points.
