Green to Edmonton

You could see it on Dylan Larkin’s face post game. Someone was moving on. One of my readers pointed out the despair and they were dead on. Mike Green has been sent to Edmonton for a 4th round (turns to a 3rd if EDM reaches WCF and Green plays 50% of games) and Kyle Brodziak. Brodziak is on LTIR and essentially just a contract moved out. His deal expires this season.

It must have been slim picking for Yzerman to settle on essentially a 4th rounder. Albeit, better than naught. Green will be reunited with Holland, and so familiarity probably played a large part in this one. Detroit will retain 50% of Green’s remaining salary.

Is Athanasiou next? Today could see more movement as the clock ticks down. Sit tight.
