The trade deadline came and went and the Wild have the same pieces that they began the day with. That is not all bad or good at the moment.

Bill Guerin did not find the right deal to fit his plan today. He of course had already made two significant changes with the Jason Zucker trade a couple weeks back along with the dismissal of Bruce Boudreau behind the Wild bench.

The near deal of Zach Parise to the Islanders for Andrew Ladd did not materialize and for that I believe we should be glad. The fact that Parise did waive his no trade to even consider the move is a huge step in the process for Guerin.

This is Guerin's team and he is going to do whatever it takes to make it a competitive winning product on the ice. For today the right deal was not there. Now on to finishing the season strong make a run at the final playoff spot and prepare well for the NHL draft. There will be more opportunities to make this team better in the coming months.
