The Coyotes Tried for Trochek + Do Nothing + Kuemper Back

Yesterday was a weird day for the Arizona Coyotes.

Not because they didn't do anything (which actually is kind of weird) but because they were not even mentioned in any trade deadline coverage.

Yesterday, while reading the internet, watching TV and listening to the radio, there was narry a sound to be heard regarding el coyote.

The Coyotes, fresh off beating the Lightning 7-3 on Saturday, get to play the Panthers tonight.

The Panthers made the dumbest move of the deadline, sending a solid player in Vincent Trochek to the Hurricanes for two checkers and a couple of dud prospects.

This would be a terrible move regardless, but to do it with your team in the middle of a playoff race is a betrayal to the fans (as is announcing you're going to cut ten million from the budget).

The Coyotes were in on Trochek, and it's insane that they couldn't have matched the offer the Canes made. If I had to guess, I would say the Panthers wouldn't eat the necessary money for the Coyotes to fit him in.

But that's just a guess based on the fact that it doesn't seem like it would be onerous to beat the price paid, the Coyotes having no cap space and the Panthers being cheap.

However, given what they accepted, it's entirely possible the Panthers turned down better offers, and just do not know how to evaluate hockey players.

In the end, I do think it's weird that you'd get Taylor Hall then stand pat.

Like, you've got to try and go for it. Kessel and Keller won't shoot 2 % forever, if you actually got some play drivers on this team it would be great.

Taylor Hall can only do so much, and I was hoping if not a real playmaking centre, that they'd at least pick up some kind of play driver who can offset how bad most of this team is at maintaining offensive possession.

Anyways, Kuemper Is Back and things are looking up.

I really hope the Coyotes can go on a run here, their fans deserve it.
