Some crazy times to be sure. I hope that all of you are being cautious in your approach to this pandemic. Common sense is the watchword… problem is, as a friend of mine says; “common sense ain’t common.”

The postponing of all sports has left a hole in a lot of lives, both emotionally and fiscally. Many operations staff members at arenas around North America are doing without a key component in their livelihoods. Those organizations that have stepped up to support their staffs during these times should be commended. The Predators are one of those organizations…

It all seems so small, considering the damage that could be done. I am not a doctor and will take their advice on what we should be doing… not the nattering nabobs on Twitter.

So… we will lament our fate… and miss our games, but if it allows a way to get some modicum of control over this unknown quantity known as COVID-19, then OK…

For now, it’s hockey movies every night… it’s replays of Preds games that I have on DVR… heck I even watched a little of the Road to the Winter Classic on NHL Network last night, that one, I couldn’t quite handle yet… 😊

Be good to each other, be safe and we can get through this together.

We will be chatting with Jeff Marek on the situation in Canada and his thoughts on how this will play out on SlapShot Radio tonight. Tune in at 7pm on 102.5 the Game.

Where They Stand – a daily look at where the Predators are in the playoff race.
With the season suspended, the Nashville Predators are in the second Wild Card slot in the conference. They are tied in points with Vancouver. They trail Winnipeg for the first slot by two points and Dallas by only four points for third in the Central.

Random Notes – Presented by

- The resumption scenarios are fascinating. I keep hearing that the league may end the regular season as it stands and utilize the appropriate tie breakers.

- Should the league decide to do that, the wild cards would be very different than what they look like now. Things would get reordered by points percentage… Nashville would take over the first wild card and Vancouver would get the second… Winnipeg would drop out of the playoffs…

- There is also speculation of a 24 team playoff. Not sure I like that option…

- The NHL has recommended “self-quarantine” for all players.

- The NHL has asked for dates into July for their arenas… interesting… and considering the CDC’s recommendations from this morning, looking more and more likely.
