The San Jose Sharks have signed forward Timur Ibragimov to a three-year entry-level contract, worth $925,000 per year.
Ibragimov is just 19 years old and was selected by the Sharks in the sixth-round of the 2019 NHL draft. He’s played his entire career in Russia up to this point and spent the majority of this season in the VHL, where he had 13 points in 35 games.
I can’t say I’ve ever seen Ibragimov play but given the fact that he just transitioned to the VHL and hasn’t reached the KHL yet, he’s likely a little ways away from the NHL. His stats do seem somewhat promising, however, as his VHL points per game average this season (played at 19 years old) was actually stronger than what Toronto Maple Leafs’ forward Ilya Mikheyev had in the VHL during his season played at 20 years old.
